TANYA UPTHEGROVE GREGORY
As a nonprofit management professional, Tanya Upthegrove Gregory has served with a range of local, statewide, national, & international organizations including the Greater Lansing Urban League, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), United Way for Southeast Michigan, Starfish Family Services, The Corps Network, Center for Michigan, & World Vision. Her responsibilities have included leading teams & managing programs to address issue areas including education, workforce development, volunteer engagement, conservation and disaster response.
As an independent consultant & grant writer, Tanya has provided technical expertise to organizations by increasing their capacity for growth through fund development, strategic partnerships, volunteer engagement, program innovation, and human capital development.
Having lived, worked & consulted in the Chicagoland region, Southeast Asia & Metro DC, Tanya returned to Michigan to focus her efforts on community impact across the state and within her hometown, Inkster.
Upon completing her MBA, Tanya made the decision to lay down roots within higher education administration, leveraging her prior skills & experience to achieve transformative impact both for students & local communities. She served as the Assistant Director for the Center for Social Impact within the Ross School of Business (UM-Ann Arbor) where she oversaw the Board Fellowship program, Summer Internship Fund, and the Impact Corps program. She also recently served as Director of the Office of Educational Opportunity Initiatives at University of Michigan-Flint, where she led college access & success programs for underrepresented students at UM-Flint, and the broader Flint community.
In her current capacity as Learning Officer at the Ruth Mott Foundation she supports grantees in tracking data and effectively measuring outcomes for youth, safety, economic opportunity, & neighborhood programs which benefit north Flint, the most underserved area of the city.
Tanya earned a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications both from Michigan State University. She is currently a doctoral student in the Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education (HALE) Program in the College of Education also at Michigan State University.
She resides in Saginaw, Michigan with her husband Kevin Gregory.
