CHEZARE WARREN Ph.D.

Dr. Chezare A. Warren is Assistant Professor of Teacher Education, core faculty member in African American and African Studies, and affiliate faculty in Mathematics Education. He spent almost a decade as a public school educator in Chicago, and is founding math teacher of the Urban Prep Charter Academy for Young Men. His research interests center on understanding the conditions that most contribute to favorable schooling outcomes for young Black men and boys attending schools in urban contexts. Dr. Warren has published over 30 journal articles, reports, reviews, and book chapters. He is on the editorial board or editorial team of four academic journals and is immediate past president of the Critical Race Studies in Education Association. He is co-editor of White Women’s Work: Examining the Intersectionality of Teaching, Identity, and Race (2017, Information Age Publishing) and author of Urban Preparation: Young Black Men Moving from Chicago’s South Side to Success in Higher Education (2017, Harvard Education Press).
